You can get them at SportCompactOnly...
::EDIT::
Actually I could only find the headlights there...not the taillights. :-(
::EDIT::

there should be a google ad link on the side, thats how I found them.

Suspension Upgrade

This is my planned Suspension Upgrade. Basically a part list.

Front and Rear Camber Adjustment Kits
Energy Suspension Master Kit Bushings w/ Grease Zerks
Tien Type FLEX Kit
A-Spec Racing (ASR) Lower Brace
Mugen Swaybars
- 24mm Front
- 20mm Rear
Mugen Strut Bars (Front and Rear)
Fastbrakes Disc Brake Upgrade Kit
- 12.2" 4-Piston Willwood Big-brake kit
- 11" Single piston fastbrakes drum to disc kit
Rota 17" SubZeros
Performance All-Season Tires

After listing basically my entire suspension setup...

I realize...its going to take alot of time and money to achive this dream.
And to think this is just so I can have a sick daily driver.

I'm insane.

and yes.. brakes, wheels and tires could be considered a suspension upgrade... because they help control the car, which is what a suspension is supposed to do... in my book that is.

Flex or Super Street

Tien makes mulitple kinds of suspension, however I'm debating to either choose Tien Type FLEX or Tien Type SUPER STREET

Type FLEX is about 400 dollars more than the Type SUPER STREET, however FLEX is much stiffer than SUPER STREET and comes with Upper pillowball mounts

F/R lbs

FLEX: 500/220 lbs/in
SUPERSTREET: 390/170 lbs/in

*edit*
After doing the math, the difference in lbs/in is only
110/50 lbs/in

this isn't that much of a diff
*edit*

Flex is quite stiff... and also allows for more control over rideheight adjustment than Super Street.

So which one is a better deal?

I say the Type FLEX is a much better deal than the Type SUPER STREET.
So I plan on purchasing the Type FLEX from www.jaydm.com
I also plan on purchasing Rota 17" SubZeros from the same people.

Step 001b: Modding Plan (Refined)

My plan of attack, for the car is... after re-thinking my original goals...

Get the car first. Then start getting parts... rims, tires, brake kits, suspension bushings, and the coil-over kit. This would be the suspension/contact upgrade done in one shot, meaning the use of the hydraulic press only once, and bleeding the brakes only once.

While getting the parts, the minor body work will be done, first removal of the dents and then the removal of the swirls. Also minor repairs will be done (driver's side wheel well cover is damaged). After the dents are removed, work on the interior could be started, which includes sound insulation, tinting the windows, and installing the various electronics, and their wiring.

To deal with the immobilzier, I will get the parts needed for the interior, such as the antenna, and replacing the key tumblers with newer ones this is because I plan on using the chip on the new key...also an interior upgrade I forgot to mention was the power kit, which includes power windows and locks.

After the suspension/contact upgrade is done, part collection for the engine swap will commence. once all the parts for the engine swap have been collected... the engine will be swapped.

Once the engine has been swapped. then this blog will take a different direction, or may just end. But you never know

Step 001a: Modding Plan (original)

When I joined k20a.org, I asked a simple question, "Where do I start modding?"

They suggested that I start with suspension, from the bottom up or from simple to difficult.

So this is my plan of attack.

Suspension: Full Coilovers -> Tires&Wheels -> Brakes & Bushings (bleed em once) -> Refine Suspension (tower bars, lower arm bars, camber adjustment)

Body: Dents -> Paint -> Windows & Tint

Interior(Electronics): Power Windows, doors (Customizing Door Panels will be required) -> Sound Deading -> Head Unit -> Speakers -> nav -> Amp for speakers -> subs & amps for subs

Interior(Appearence): Paint -> carpet -> front seats -> rearseats

Engine Swap (one step, big step, 8k+ step)

I split it up like this, because I could advance one step in each and make slow progress.

However the actuall modification may go like this:

Full Coilovers -> Power Windows and Doors with complete anti-theft system -> Body Work(dents->paint->windows) -> sound deading (Dynamat) -> Inteior Paint -> Interior Carpet -> Wheels -> Basic Sound improvement (Head Unit(DVD w/ iPod Connectivity) -> speakers) -> wheels -> brakes and bushings -> Subwoofer Install -> Navigation (Works with Head Unit) -> Front Speaker Amp -> Engine Swap( -> Tune N/A (basically stock) engine -> Refine Suspension ->

Then i thought.. this is way too much for a daily driver... this would be for show... sooooo...

Planning

Planning is key. As a newbie at this, planning is always key. This project will require a vast amount of funds. With good planning there will be no need for spending money on items that will not be required, thus reducing the cost.

When ever you start a new project, always plan all your goals ahead of time. For planning out how to "trick out your ride" you need to ask yourself a few questions portraying to the different parts of the car. Examples:
  • General:
    • What is the car going to be used for?
      • Track, Drag, Show, Daily Driver?
  • Performance:
    • Horsepower goal?
    • Torque goal?
  • Exterior:
    • Body kit?
    • OEM Look?
    • Sleeper?
  • Interior:
    • Gut out?
    • Pimp out?
With these questions you can then point out what exactly you want out of your project. The most important question is "What is this car going to be used for?" for most newbies, this is their only car, so its for daily driving with weekend show or track, of course no illegal street racing, of course.

By finding out what you want from your project, you start building your car on paper. Research is key. Research how you are going to obtain those goals, because by researching how to obtain those goals, you find out there are many options out there.

After selecting all your goals, and fully building your car out on paper. You can then see the price of this project start to emerge. The price will scare you at first. But then you start building a work plan.

Always start from the bottom up, and outside in, or inside out. Either way, doing this step by step will save you money, and allow you to have a slow but continuous progress.

When you start to plan out what you will start to change. Always make sure that what you are changing isn't going to affect anything else to the point that your car would become unsafe or not even run. Because if it is, then you might as well change that too.

So to conclude. Planning is key. Find your goals, research how to obtain those goals, then research the options. Pick your options, and build your car on paper. Then plan out the modification.

About Me

Currently I am a college student. I currently have no job, or funds for this expensive project. Nor do I have the experience or equipment to do such a project on my own. However, I do have the drive, and knowledge that this project will be complete.

About my car: 1995 Honda Civic Hatchback DX - Auto

Start

Welcome all to k20a.blogspot.com

This will be my progress blog of fully modifying my EG Hatchback (1995 Honda Civic Hatchback) into a frankenstine machine.

I would like to thank the people at k2oa.org for their great information.

If anyone would like to do a K-series swap, start there. They have all the information on swapping such an awsome engine into almost any Honda out there.
